Food Safe Trays and Boards
Cleaning Steps
Gentle Cleaning: Wipe the tray with a damp cloth using light soap and water to remove any residue.
Avoid Soaking: To maintain the integrity of the wood, refrain from soaking the tray in water or any liquid for prolonged periods.
Immediate Drying: After cleaning, ensure the tray is dried with a clean, dry cloth to prevent moisture absorption.
Reapply Mineral Oil: Periodically, reapply 100% food-grade mineral oil to nourish and protect the wood. Apply a small amount and buff with a soft cloth.
Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the the wood.
Protect from Extreme Conditions: Keep the tray away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, or excessive humidity to prevent warping or discoloration.
How Often to Oil
All our food-safe items come per-treated with 100% food-grade mineral oil so you don’t have to worry about oiling them upon arrival. We do recommend reapplying mineral oil every 6 months or whenever the wood seems dry. This will ensure the wood stays protected.
What Oil to Use
Any food grade mineral oil will work, but we use Howard Cutting Board Oil because we’ve found it to be durable and readily available. You can find it at the local home centers as well as online retailers.
